Michael Bratt is the founder of iondata. He started his career in international trade and economic development, including work at the Swedish National Board of Trade and the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

His more recent work has been with the Descartes Institute for the Future and has focused on the calculation and analysis of country and city rankings on issues related to talent, finance, and technology. Recent projects include the Financial Centres Competitiveness Index, supported by Stern at NYU Abu Dhabi, and the Cities Future Readiness Index in partnership with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO). Past projects include The Global Talent Competitiveness Index for INSEAD and the Future Readiness Economic Index commissioned by Google.

Michael holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Geneva, where his research focused on the economic impact of non-tariff barriers to international trade.
